Ropes & Gray today announces the appointment of Alexandra Chauvin as a London-based counsel in its market-leading asset management team.

Alexandra advises on the structuring, negotiation and documentation of complex transactions in the secondary market, including structured and synthetic secondaries, traditional portfolio sales, stapled offerings and recapitalisations.

Alexandra joins one of the world’s leading asset management law firms. Globally, more than 300 Ropes & Gray partners, counsel and associates advise a global client base of asset management firms, including fund sponsors, investors, and investment advisers, on all aspects of their business.

Within EMEA, the firm’s 30-strong team stands out for its deep experience representing both sponsors and investors across a diverse range of private fund formation work and its full-service capability, including tax and regulatory.

Tom Alabaster, EMEA head of funds at Ropes & Gray, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Alex to the firm. Her arrival represents the continuation of our phenomenal growth and development over the last two years. Strengthening our secondaries offering in Europe is a key component in our endeavour to build an elite funds practice in EMEA and further strengthen our fully integrated transatlantic offering. Alex is a first-rate funds lawyer and our clients will benefit greatly from her addition to our excellent team.”

Bryan Chegwidden, global head of the firm’s asset management group, said: “We are continuing to see a growing demand for our private funds work, across both the US and Europe, so I’m delighted that Alex is joining us.  Her experience and expertise as a focused secondaries lawyer will be an invaluable addition to our investment funds team and will further strengthen our transatlantic offering, as we respond to client demand.”

Alexandra joins Ropes & Gray from the London office of another global law firm.  Her arrival adds to the firm’s continued momentum in London. It follows the additions of funds counsel Chris Townsend and life sciences regulatory partner Dr Lincoln Tsang in 2021, along with EMEA private funds head, Tom Alabaster, restructuring partner Matt Czyzyk, and special situations partner Samuel Norris, who joined in 2020.
