Ropes & Gray is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected as the 2010 Chambers USA award winner for Excellence for Intellectual Property. The award, presented in New York City on June 10, recognizes the preeminent intellectual property practice in the country. In all, 20 IP partners, associates and staff represented the firm at the event.

Chambers bases its awards in large part on client interviews seeking feedback on service provided by top law firms. Ropes & Gray was selected as the winner among eight finalists in the IP category.

"Knowing that our clients value the counsel and service we provide in a field such as intellectual property, where legal expertise and judgment are critical to the very survival of a business, is extremely gratifying," said Ropes & Gray managing partner John Montgomery.

Ropes & Gray's Intellectual Property Group provides a full range of IP rights and management services from licensing and transactions to rights protection and full-scale litigation. With a team of more than 200 lawyers, 40 patent agents and technical advisors and 60 paralegals, Ropes & Gray advises industry innovators on their most challenging issues, anywhere in the world.

The firm's IP practices have been recognized among the world's elite by Chambers in the United States and Japan, and The International Who's Who of Patent Lawyers has named five Ropes & Gray partners to its distinguished list for 2010. Two other surveys by Managing IP and Asia IP recently ranked Ropes & Gray’s IP practices among the best in the world.
