Ropes & Gray is No. 1 in Private Equity Analyst Rankings on Number of Funds

Practices: Private Investment Funds

Ropes & Gray is the top-ranked U.S. law firm in private equity fund formation and review, a position the firm has held for seven of the last nine years.

The firm earned the top spot in Private Equity Analyst’s 2011 list of “the most active law firms by number of funds,” announced in the publication’s March edition. The firm’s lawyers advised general partners and limited partners in the formation and review of a total 424 funds in 2011. Ropes & Gray has one of the largest and most sophisticated private investment funds practices in the world advising clients on leveraged buyout funds, funds of funds, CDO funds and mezzanine funds among others.

“We are gratified to receive this recognition by Private Equity Analyst,” said Raj Marphatia, co-head of the firm’s private investment funds practice group. “It is a testament to the hard work we do for a diverse client base across a range of asset classes in an increasingly rejuvenated fundraising market.”

In addition to its historical strength in the United States, the firm has expanded into important fundraising markets in Asia and Europe and is poised to advise on funds matters around the world.
