Financial Times Honors Ropes & Gray in 2012 U.S. Innovative Lawyers Report

Ropes & Gray has been recognized in the third U.S. edition of the Financial Times’ Innovative Lawyers report, published November 29.

The firm was ranked among the report’s “FT Law 25.” This category selected firms based on their ability to improve their service to clients and ranked them according to their collective performance across the corporate, finance, litigation, IP and energy practices. The Financial Times described these firms as “continually proving they are ideal for handling complex, high-value matters.”

Ropes & Gray also was cited for its work on three cases:

Defended Heartland Payment Systems:

Ropes & Gray was a “highly commended” firm in the “Litigation” category which selects firms that deliver the greatest value and results to clients. Litigation partner Mark Szpak led the Ropes & Gray team that “defended Heartland Payment Systems against legal claims arising from an attack on its systems, devising a unique settlement method and fending off further litigation.”

TPG Capital:

Ropes & Gray was also a “commended” firm in the “Litigation” category for its representation of TPG Capital. Securities litigation partners Randy Bodner and Peter Welsh led the team and “successfully defended TPG Capital against litigation arising from the company's $3bn acquisition of retailer J. Crew.”
