Ropes & Gray Wins at The Asian Lawyer’s Asia Legal Awards
Ropes & Gray was recognized by The Asian Lawyer at its third annual Asia Legal Awards announced Feb. 23 in Hong Kong. The firm, along with other legal firms involved in the deal, won the “M&A Deal of the Year: North Asia” award for its representation of the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CIPPB) in U.K. retailer Tesco’s $6.4 billion sale of Korean supermarket chain Homeplus to MBK Partners, CIPPB and Temasek. The deal was one of the largest private equity transactions of 2015, and the largest buyout in South Korea. The deal was also the winner of Asia Legal Awards’ “Grand Prize M&A Deal of the Year.”
The awards celebrated the excellence and standout achievements of 2015 in the Asian legal spectrum across key practice areas and disciplines in both transactions and disputes.
