Ropes & Gray Ranked by Law360 as a Top Ten Firm for Female Attorneys

For the second year in a row, Ropes & Gray has been named to Law360’s top ten list of “Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys.” In the publication’s 2018 Glass Ceiling Report, Ropes & Gray was among a handful of firms that ranked above average in their representation of female attorneys.

The firm was also once again named to Law360’s top ten “Ceiling Smashers” list of law firms with the highest percentage of women equity partners.

While many law firms struggle to close the gender gap, Ropes & Gray has continued to distinguish itself for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The firm was ranked number one for overall diversity in the 2018 Vault guide, and it achieved its highest ranking ever—number two—on The American Lawyer’s 2017 “A-List” of the top 20 U.S. law firms, which included gender diversity among the criteria for the first time. The firm was also recognized for gender equity by Yale Law Women’s annual survey of family friendly firms.

Further demonstrating the firm’s commitment to gender diversity and equality, in November Ropes & Gray named Julie H. Jones as its next chair, marking the first time in the firm’s more than 150-year history that a woman will hold the top leadership position. Ms. Jones will become chair when current chair R. Bradford Malt retires at the end of next year. The Law360 Glass Ceiling Report found that firms with women in a leadership role averaged a better representation of female attorneys across the firm.
