Diane Patrick Honored as Recipient of the 2019 Boston Bar Foundation Public Service Award

The Boston Bar Foundation (BBF) has honored Ropes & Gray senior counsel and former First Lady of Massachusetts Diane Patrick as the 2019 recipient of the BBF’s Public Service Award. The award is bestowed each year to an honoree exemplifying proven leadership and a commitment to public service initiatives. Ms. Patrick was presented with the award at the foundation’s annual John and Abigail Adams Benefit held on Jan. 26.

Ms. Patrick’s distinguished legal career spans more than three decades, accentuated by exemplary public service. A longtime advocate for vulnerable populations across Greater Boston, Ms. Patrick has been a champion for domestic violence survivors and underprivileged youth, and has worked to eliminate the devastating stigma attached to those with mental illnesses. She currently serves on the Boards of the Epiphany School, the Posse Foundation, Massachusetts General Hospital and Partners Healthcare. She has held numerous other volunteer posts including as a volunteer member of the Commonwealth’s Foster Care Review Unit, Trustee and Director for ArtsBoston, Trustee for the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Overseer at Children’s Hospital Boston, and Trustee for both Cambridge College and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. She has also been a volunteer for the Boston Bar Association’s Lawyer for a Day program in the Housing Court. Ms. Patrick’s public contributions to and support of various organizations has led to a more diverse and inclusive Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

During her tenure at Ropes & Gray, Ms. Patrick served as co-managing partner of the Boston office, as well as chair of the firm’s diversity committee – playing an immeasurable role in developing Ropes & Gray’s strategy to attract and retain attorneys of varied backgrounds. Her commitment to inclusiveness is recognized throughout the Commonwealth – and at Ropes & Gray – as sincere, deep and unwavering.
