Private Equity International Shortlists Ropes & Gray for Law Firm of the Year in Several Categories across Multiple Regions

Private Equity International has shortlisted Ropes & Gray as a finalist for Law Firm of the Year in its 2018 Annual Awards. Winners will be decided through a poll open to the market that closes on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. To cast a vote in the awards, please click here. The firm is ranked in the following categories:

  • Law firm of the year in North America—Secondaries
    Shortlisted for advising on 40 GP recapitalisations as well as a number of fund stake sales, including a $1 billion-plus portfolio in the past year.
  • Law Firm of the Year in EMEA—Transactions
    A five-partner UK-team has been shortlisted for adding several high-profile clients in the past year including Ares Management, Avenue Capital Group, Duke Street Capital and Epiris, and for advising on 33 deals worth £3.7 billion at the time of submission in 2018.
  • Law firm of the year in Asia—Fund Formation
    Shortlisted for our representation of more than 30 fund sponsor clients and more than 10 sovereign and large institutional investor clients, and our overall counsel to them in the past year.
  • Law firm of the year in Asia—Transactions
    Shortlisted for guiding Bain Capital on the successful purchase of Toshiba Corporation’s semiconductor business in transaction that closed in June 2018 and was valued at ¥2 trillion ($18 billion; €16 billion) in what is the largest leveraged buyout and private equity deal ever in Asia.
  • Law firm of the year in Asia—Secondaries
    Shortlisted for advising an Asian sovereign wealth fund on the sale of a portfolio of stakes, one of the largest to change hands in 2018, and also advising on 40 recapitalisations and structured secondaries worldwide in 2018.
