Ropes & Gray Named Finalist for “Private Equity Team of the Year” and for four “Deal of the Year” awards by International Financial Law Review

Ropes & Gray is named finalist for the International Financial Review’s (IFLR) Private Equity Team of the Year at their 2020 Americas awards. The Americas awards showcase the most legally innovative cross-border transactions that closed in 2019 “from Canada to Chile, and everywhere in between.” 

The firm has also been shortlisted for “Deal of the Year” in several categories: 

  • Private Equity, for the groundbreaking acquisition by Switzerland-based Jacobs Holding AG of North American Dental Group. The transaction formed the first transatlantic dental services organization.
  • Capital Markets, for the IPO of Avantor, the second-largest IPO of 2019 and largest-ever biotech IPO.
  • Restructuring, for Aegean Marine Petroleum Network and certain subsidiaries, a leading international marine fuel logistics company with approximately $900 million of funded indebtedness in their chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Aegean operates in more than 20 countries worldwide with headquarters in Athens, Greece and a corporate office in New York City.
  • Restructuring, for Weatherford International’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection claim. The oil field services company listed total debts of nearly $8.34 billion and total assets of nearly $6.52 billion.
