During the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Annual Awards Luncheon on Dec. 2, 2020, PILI recognized Ropes & Gray with its “2020 Pro Bono Initiative” award. Since 1999, PILI has honored a single entity for its outstanding contributions to public interest law and pro bono in Illinois with the “Pro Bono Initiative” award.

During the ceremony, PILI lauded Ropes & Gray for the firm’s unwavering commitment to providing the disadvantaged with access to justice on a variety of legal topics, such as pro bono counseling on COVID-19 matters, assisting immigrants on asylum matters, providing record-sealing and expungement services, post-conviction relief efforts, providing local nonprofits with corporate governance and employment advice, and helping those facing abuse, discrimination, divorce, eviction, and other civil legal challenges.

Litigation and enforcement partner Nicholas Berg, who serves on Ropes & Gray’s pro bono committee, delivered brief remarks while accepting the award on behalf of Ropes & Gray.
