Uchechi Egeonuigwe Named to the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “40 Under 40” Emerging Leaders In Insolvency Practice

The American Bankruptcy Institute has selected business restructuring associate Uchechi Egeonuigwe for its ABI “40 Under 40” list of top U.S. insolvency professionals under the age of 40. 

Uchechi represents debtors, distressed borrowers and investors including private equity sponsors, in connection with out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Uchechi clerked for Hon. William T. Thurman in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah and then practiced in the restructuring group of a preeminent New York law firm. 

In 2021, Uchechi was named a “Rising Star” by the New York Law Journal, a “NextGen Emerging Leader” by the Corporate Counsel Women of Color, an “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer” by the American Bar Association, and a “One to Watch” for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law by The Best Lawyers in America. 

Uchechi  is actively involved in community organizations and a regular speaker on insolvency and restructuring topics.
