Ropes & Gray Advised Management on the Proposed Acquisition of Aluminium Dunkerque by Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) from American Industrial Partners (AIP)

Ropes & Gray has advised the management team of Aluminium Dunkerque on the entry into an exclusive agreement under which Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) would acquire 100% of Aluminium Dunkerque from American Industrial Partners.

Based in Loon-Plage in the Dunkerque region of France, Aluminum Dunkerque is Europe’s largest primary aluminium smelter and produces 300,000 tonnes of aluminium per year. The proposed acquisition would bring Alba and Aluminium Dunkerque together to form a geographically diversified industrial group with an operational footprint across regions, expanding both companies’ global customer base.

The Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity partner Fabrice Cohen and private equity counsel Raphaël Durand, assisted by tax partner Edouard Chapellier and tax associate Nicolas Le Guernic on tax aspects.
