Ropes & Gray advised long term client Bain Capital, a leading global private investment firm, on its agreement to acquire certain grocery, specialty and other retail businesses from Seven & i Holdings, in a transaction valued at 814.7 billion yen (approximately $5.37 billion). The signing of the definitive agreement was announced on March 6.
The proposed acquisition includes 29 subsidiaries and affiliated companies, which operate major supermarket chains Ito-Yokado and York-Benimaru, as well as specialty retailers including Loft, Akachan Honpo, and Seven & i Food Systems (which operates the family restaurant chain Denny's).
